A funny from the story Courdoroy

We have read Corduroy countless of times but today the 4.5yr old upon hearing about how the little girl returned to the shop alone to purchase Corduroy exclaimed loudly

“Wa! She can go out all by herself ah?”

We burst out laughing and I replied, “Yes, she did go to the shop all by herself.” To which she replied,

“So dangerous!”

Lol!

Overheard today

Child #4′s birthday falls on Saturday (Labour Day) so we are bringing her out for her birthday outing tomorrow (Friday) instead so that we don’t have to jostle with crowds – one of the many benefits of being a homeschooling family :)

To show that she is ok with celebrating it earlier and not on the actual day itself, she announces to her siblings at the dinner table :

“Tomorrow is my fake birthday!”

From the almost 3 year old

This morning, the almost 3 year old made me laugh with her very grown up comments.

Me : D please set the table for me.
D : Ok….actually I don’t want.
Me : Just go, ok?
D : OhhhKayyy.

Did she actually say “actually”??? :D

Then later in Church. She asked me to do something for her (which for the life of me I can’t remember now) and I was a bit slow. She asked me to hurry up by saying, “Mama, come on!”

Too funny to hear these words coming out of her mouth. And I guess I must be using these words a lil too often these days :)

A Funny

Before I forget, I wanted to write down something funny, 7yo ds said at dinner last week.

Ds#1 suddenly howled in a annoying dramatic manner halfway through dinner at Jack’s Place. So obviously all heads at the table turned and looked at him to which he lapped up the attention and continued howling. He finally told us that he had bit his tongue and that it was very painful.

Younger Ds calmly told him “Just close your eyes and drink water!”

Lol!

Brings On A Smile

Today, I asked the 6 year old to hold the baby while I hauled the toddler to wash her super messy face and hands after our lunch. The other children whom I usually ask to help to hold the baby were stilll busy stuffing their faces :)

She was so thrilled so squealed in delight, “ME??????????????????” And as I placed the baby on her, she couldn’t stop grinning and said, “I like this!”

It really brings a smile to my face when they react wit joy and enthusiasm when I ask them to help out with the baby instead of groan and moan.

This baby certainly is privileged. She is almost never left to lie on the mattress/cot to cry when I have things I need to do. There is always a pair of willing hands to carry her while I finish up what I need to do. Unless she is tired or needs to burp (again!), she is happy to be held and entertained by her siblings.

They sure love the baby to bits!

I’m Hiding, Mama

The 2 yr old sure knows who to look for when she needs help or someone to play with. Although any of her 5 older siblings would do, she especially loves to look for her oldest sister (9yrs old).

The older ones usually oblige to her requests (more water, draw something for her, get a toy, wash her hands, etc…) But she often pushes their limits coz she never wants them to stop playing with her.

Eg. she would ask them to open a box and then proceeds to close to it, then asks them to open it again, then closes it -over and over till they lose their patience with her. Yes they should be more patient with her but hey! try opening a box that she will close 20 times in a row and see if you’ll not feel even a twinge of annoyance :)

So this morning, I find dd lying down on the couch covered with cushions. She whispered, “Mama, I am hiding from Deborah.” And in the background, I could hear Deborah calling for her sister :)

Another funny moment that made me smile.

My Baby’s Lullaby

My baby likes Chris Tomlin’s How Can I Keep From Singing.

One moment she is fussing and trying to get herself to sleep and then the moment she hears the intro to the song she quietens down almost immediately and within minutes would be asleep. Pretty amazing stuff I say!

We have been listening to the song via YouTube since the CD is in the car.

You are now a little fat

Yes, my 4 year old had this to say to me this morning after she was done with her school :)

I have no idea what brought it on. She just turned to me after packing up her books and said with the sweetest smile, “Mama, you are now a little fat.” And proceeds to stick out her tummy just a little bit to demonstrate what she meant. :)

Too funny!
